On October 24, 2014, the Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association (PIABA), an international bar association comprised of attorneys dedicated to the representation of individual investors in disputes with the securities industry, announced the 2014 PIABA Distinguished Service Award recipient, Brian N. Smiley.
Brian is a former president of PIABA and member of its board of directors. He currently serves on the Securities Industry Conference on Arbitration. In announcing the award, PIABA’s Executive Director stated:
The PIABA Distinguished Service Award is a life-time achievement award in recognition of individuals promoting the interests of public investors in securities arbitration. “Mr. Smiley’s contributions and achievements on behalf of public investors are immeasurable and we are honored to recognize him with PIABA’s highest honor, the Distinguished Service Award,” said Robin Ringo, Executive Director of PIABA.
